Objectifs
Mener des recherches sur le terrain et documentaires sur les options alternatives d'accès à la terre en Afrique du Sud pour les permaculteurs sans terre disposant d'un capital et d'un crédit limités. Au cours des mois 1 à 4, nous étudierons les opportunités, les processus, les coûts et les lois pertinentes, en apprenant des permaculteurs à faible capital et des gardiens de la terre qui ont réussi.
Comparer ces options avec les pays de la SADC pour une adéquation régionale (Mois 4).
Publier un guide sur l'accès créatif à la terre pour la permaculture, le diffuser auprès des groupes locaux de permaculture, de guérison traditionnelle, d'agroécologie et de souveraineté alimentaire, d'abord en anglais et dans une langue indigène, avec la possibilité de traductions/vidéos ultérieures (mois 4-5).
Développer un cadre à partir de notre recherche pour aborder l'accès à la terre et son utilisation en Afrique australe, offrant des perspectives pour le reste de l'Afrique, le Sud global, et les permaculteurs sans terre dans le monde entier. Ce cadre et nos conclusions seront partagés avec le CoLab afin d'inspirer et de permettre des initiatives régionales similaires. (Mois 6)

Our team has successfully completed what we envision as the first phase of our research into creative land access strategies for low-capital African Permaculturists. We have published two artifacts:
Sowing Seeds Without Soil – Navigating Land Access for African Permaculturists v1.0
A 62 page guide detailing the research process, findings, and advice for African permaculturists wanting to access land without high capital costs. This guide contains stories of permaculture projects and indigenous farmers operating on tribal land, in land trusts, on land from redistribution programmes; as well as challenges especially around gender when accessing land. Focused on SADC for now but with plans to expand into other regions in Africa.
Grassroots Land Access Research Draft Framework – A 1 page infographic outlining our research approach for others to replicate in other regions or with other focus areas. This would be likely applicable in other African regions and might find relevance in other Global South contexts, and with adaption it may be useful to researchers in the Global North interested in alternative land-access and grassroots initiatives.
