CoLab Podcast - Series 2, Episode 4

We hear from Mafah Cornelius Kuta of the Wandusoa Organic Cameroon Development Association who talks about the deep and intimate personal reasons for setting up and developing his permaculture school of learning and his passion for sharing a future to educate all farmers in sustainable regenerative agriculture practices.

The applied permaculture school Kuta directs and manages helps educate young people from Cameroon in sustainable farming techniques as well as how to run a business, these same students then go on to set up their own regenerative agricultural businesses.

Comms, Outreach and Engagement

The Comms, Outreach and Engagement team has created a short survey in order to ask you about the CoLab newsletter and other social media channels. If you have a couple of minutes to fill it out we would be super grateful. Thank you!

CoLab Blog Post

In the latest CoLab blog post, Vida discusses neurodiversity and gives her reflections on the Wired Differently workshop that she attended.

This article veers off wildly from her learnt writing style of trying to create a cohesive narrative with limiting sentence structure and instead explores the plotlines & images her mind was drawn to over the course of the work, without trying to overexplain her thoughts. In celebration and experimentation of finding her own neurodiverse voice she made no attempt to ‘correct’ these to ‘pass’ as neurotypical – this work is much more how her brain experiences different threads – a single word prompting a jump to a different stream.

Diversity and Decolonization

The International Permaculture CoLab recognises that permaculture history, ethics, principles and practices have deep roots in many indigenous cultures.

This section of our newsletter is dedicated to addressing gaps in knowledge, highlighting resources and important work. We seek to promote, share and support diversity and decolonization projects, organisations and shared knowledge around the world that are aligned with our vision of a socially just world where we live in harmony with nature.

Value and Impact of the Purpose-Built Community of Practice

Knowledge Communities, in collaboration with Purpose Built Communities, have released a white paper telling the story of Purpose Built’s successful and compelling journey to adopt and implement a Community of Practice (CoP) strategy to support neighborhood revitalization and racial equity. Specifically, the paper describes the Purpose Built CoP startup process, the status of the Purpose Built CoP as of early 2021 and success factors to date. Finally, the paper contains an appendix of tips for practitioners who support and manage CoPs and networks.

Read about how the Purpose Built Community of Practice (PB CoP) successfully supported a network of change-makers across the US during COVID and continues to support them on an ongoing basis today.

Learn some practical strategies you might want to adopt as you build a community of practice. Understand why the PB CoP exemplifies best practices from which many can learn.
