About Food Sovereignty
In 1996, international farmers’ organisation La Via Campesina sought to overthrow corporate demands dictating the foods produced by farmers – and in turn, give back the power to produce, distribute, and consume. Food sovereignty is the right of the people to choose what they grow and eat and what they consider culturally and physically appropriate.
