CoLab Podcast - Series 2, Episode 2

Our second podcast episode introduces Pippa Downing of Runach Arainn Food Forest Garden on the Isle of Arran, Scotland, who manages an eco glamping business based around a food forest garden with permaculture practices at its heart.

Pippa's project has developed some of the land into a food forest garden and they are now an accredited demonstration site for regenerative agriculture and permaculture. For more details of the Runach Arainn project follow this link and have a listen.

Comms, Outreach and Engagement

The Comms, Outreach and Engagement team wants your help! We are looking to create content for an external audience, so that we can let the world know all the great work that the CoLab is doing. Our question to you is; Which permaculture magazines/blogs/platforms do you like the best?

If you have a few seconds, we have created this short questionnaire for you to fill out. Many thanks.

Diploma in Permaculture

In Europe there are several entities, mostly national permaculture associations, which issue a permaculture diploma. There are different names for the same diploma - most common is the "Diploma in Applied Permaculture" or "Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design".

The EUPN provides an overview of those different systems.

Diversity and Decolonization

The International Permaculture CoLab recognises that permaculture history, ethics, principles and practices have deep roots in many indigenous cultures.

This section of our newsletter is dedicated to addressing gaps in knowledge, highlighting resources and important work. We seek to promote, share and support diversity and decolonization projects, organisations and shared knowledge around the world that are aligned with our vision of a socially just world where we live in harmony with nature.

Catalyzing Learning and Action for Equitable Systems Change

This study examines how thousands of graduates of leadership development and fellowship programs are harnessing alumni wisdom and actions to advance racial equity and racial healing. The research included 23 direct interviews with funders, 25 articles and books reviews, and engaged 85 funders, network consultants and alumni of leadership programs. The Leadership Learning Community, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation‘s research partner in this effort, focused on three areas of inquiry:
  1. What are the pros and cons of different ways that funders are organizing leadership program alumni and the extent to which funders drive this work?
  2. What is unique about an alumni network approach? What are the benefits, and what would it require?
  3. What can be learned from other foundation-sponsored alumni networks about power dynamics, how to center equity, decision-making realms and governance, structures, processes, communications and resources?
