Diversity and Decolonization
The International Permaculture CoLab recognises that permaculture history, ethics, principles and practices have deep roots in many indigenous cultures.
This section of our newsletter is dedicated to addressing gaps in knowledge, highlighting resources and important work. We seek to promote, share and support diversity and decolonization projects, organisations and shared knowledge around the world that are aligned with our vision of a socially just world where we live in harmony with nature.

Community Engagement for Equitable Systems Change
The Community Engagement for Equitable Systems Change collaborative aims to bridge the divide between systems and the communities they serve, change how systems operate, and
equip systems to advance racial equity.
They believe that communities most impacted need to have a seat at decision-making tables. At the same time, systems need to be receptive to community voices and need to build the capacity to operationalize change in partnership with those affected.
They envision a world where:
- Systems demonstrate equitable results for communities of color and historically marginalized communities.
- Engaging those most impacted by decisions is a routine part of how systems operate.
- Systems are nimble and responsive, partnering with community to transform how the systems function.
